I DON'T WANT IT (Instrumental)

"I Don't Want It (Instrumental)" explores the emotional tension between desire and restraint through the language of music.

Without the lyrics, the melodies, harmonies, and groove tell the story of a heart caught between caution and surrender. Every phrase reflects the push and pull of wanting something you know could change your life forever, inviting listeners to experience that emotional journey through the music alone.

As a drummer, producer, and songwriter, I wanted this arrangement to highlight the conversation happening between the instruments. The rhythm section drives the music forward with an undeniable pulse, while expressive melodies and rich harmonies create moments of anticipation, vulnerability, and release. Together, they capture the emotional tension that inspired the original song.

Rooted in soul, funk, and R&B, this instrumental gives D'MAR & The Nu Funk Society the opportunity to let the groove become the storyteller. Without vocals, every instrument speaks with its own voice, creating an atmosphere that is both intimate and powerful.

One of the things I love most about instrumental music is that it leaves room for the listener's imagination. Whether you hear romance, longing, temptation, or simply a beautiful groove, the music meets you wherever you are.

At its heart, this piece isn't about resisting emotion.

It's about acknowledging the incredible power that love, connection, and vulnerability can have over us.

Sometimes the deepest feelings don't need words.

They simply need a melody... and a groove.
